August 22 (Hell is Here) is an audiovisual composition created in collaboration with sound artist and musician Samuel Savenberg (SSSS). The work explores the hypnotic tension between geometric precision and turbulent organic motion, where abstract bodies slide across a morphing, glowing surface of pixels, resembling enigmatic primitive figures adrift in a dense, shifting fluid. Both the sound and visuals follow a structured yet evolving system, built on repetitive sequences that generate a slow, relentless rise in intensity. The haunting soundscape is driven by a slightly irregular drum loop, melodic fragments, and processed vocal recordings, creating an ominous atmosphere. The video mirrors this rhythm, with rigid orthogonal structures moving through an unstable, fluid environment. Visually, the composition unfolds in a warm, limited palette, where black geometric figures shift like shadows across a luminous field of flesh-red tones. The turbulent background pulses and morphs, evoking the glow of a burning backlight. This interplay between structured forms and restless motion creates a sense of unstable equilibrium, as the image continuously oscillates between order and dissolution. Blurring the boundary between mechanical repetition and organic unpredictability, August 22 (Hell is Here) emerges as a slowly intensifying audiovisual landscape, drawing the viewer in an hypnotic state of sustained tension.
